About
Hi, my name is Carol Pacey and I work at Marsh & Associates LLC in Tempe, Arizona. From 2008-2011, and with funding from the Bureau of Reclamation - Phoenix Area Office, I created and delivered a free, on-site outreach program about native Arizona fishes. Through our Sharing Tails program, kindergarteners and first and second grade students in public elementary schools around the state learned about these wonderfully fantastic creatures, and in total, we reached about 33,000 students! In 2013, Dr. Paul Marsh and I formed Marsh Education, a not-for-profit 501(c)3 branch of Marsh & Associates LLC, but we did not begin visiting students again until the 2015-2016 school year. Since then, until May 2023, almost 15,000 students received our program, bringing the total to 48,000 Arizona students who received our program. THAT’S FIN-TASTIC!!! Our program ended in 2023 due to insufficient funding, but prior to then, we had financial partnerships with SeaLife Trust (2016-2017), Arizona Game and Fish Heritage K-12 Small Grant Program (2020-2021), and Gila River Basin Native Fish Program and Bureau of Reclamation - Phoenix Area Office (2021-2023).
For our program, I created plastic fish toys to give free to students, and we estimate 36,000 students received one of these toys! We also used our merchandise to raise funds when we were without financial partnerships. In 2023, we created a 10" plush humpback chub prototype and attempted a fundraiser to cover the costs of toy production, but we were unsuccessful, and the toys were not produced.
